🎙️ What Rebel Wilson’s Trainer (Really) Thinks About Supplements

Berberine and NAD+ play a role, but Jono and Amy say consistency matters more than capsules.

🖋️ A word from our editor…

“You start to do things for yourself,” Amy says. “You start to accept certain things… and make yourself feel better.”

That line stuck with me. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of supplements, but what Amy and Jono brought to this conversation was something more honest: the idea that real change comes slowly, from the inside out.

Amy talks about how supplements helped, curbing cravings and regulating blood sugar, but she’s clear that none of it mattered until she addressed the mental and emotional work. Jono brings his usual humour to it, but the message is the same. These aren’t magic fixes. They’re support, not solutions.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by wellness advice or unsure where to start, this episode is a reminder that there’s no perfect plan. Just small steps, taken consistently, with care.

🍳 “It was just about getting the right nutrition, making exercise a part of my routine, getting the better sleep, taking the supplements and just looking after myself holistically.”

When it comes to wellness, it’s easy to get distracted by buzzwords. But in the latest listener Q&A episode of No Business Being A Castano, Amy and Jono opened up about the supplements that have made a difference in their routines.

From raw egg days to blood sugar regulation, the duo opened up about how certain supplements like berberine and NAD+ have helped them or their clients stay consistent, recover better, and shift into long-term health.

“That’s definitely been something that has contributed…”

Amy credits intermittent fasting, better sleep, and strength training as key parts of her transformation. But supplements played a supporting role too.

“I started taking berberine and that obviously helped my blood sugar levels and also my cravings,” she says. “That's something that I think we missed out from, you know, food and nutrition… if you can supplement that, then that’s a good way to get those things in your diet.”

Jono agrees that the 30s are a turning point: “I've been taking supplements since I was 20, you know, and that's why I look so good right now.”

Later in the episode, conversation turns to NAD+, a molecule that naturally declines with age and has become a trendy anti-aging infusion among celebrities and biohackers.

Amy shares: “It’s amazing because it’s like this coenzyme that is produced in your body. And as we age, it slows down its production… that is something that is in your body that makes every single cell work.”

She adds: “I've done an infusion in the past, yeah. Quite intense.”

Jono has heard similar stories: “They came out sweating and stuff… I don’t know if that’s what they’re doing, but yeah.”

A mindset shift first, always

But for all the supplement talk, Amy makes one thing clear: transformation didn’t come in a bottle.

“For me, it started off mentally, and doing an emotional journey into myself… it affected my weight. It affected me being emotional… once I got through that phase, the physical also follows on.”

As she puts it: “It wasn't just an overnight thing. It was just about, you know, getting the right nutrition, making exercise a part of my routine, getting the better sleep, taking the supplements and just looking after myself holistically, rather than just being like, okay, I'm going to start a diet.”
